Install 64 bit linux First!
So I've learnt:
A Project based life is best suited for me, and the obsession needs to carry 24x7 so as not to get distracted. It works wonders, and I do feel the thrill for it.
So If I were to leave everything and work independently, here are the list of my projects.
(1) The Shoe Business Plan.
(2) Programming projects.
(2a) Code the Btree.
(2b) Object oriented design club!
(3) Web Projects: design, backend frameworks.
This itself is huge!
(3a) http://speckyboy.com/2011/05/03/20-essential-firefox-4-addonsextensions-for-web-developers/
(3b) CMSs and Information systems! >> Publish the videos also!
(4) Playboy Collection: A Crawler to collect all data.
(5) Hackers Philosophy
Specific Problems to solve:
Linux:
(1) Steelseries headphone compatibility.
(2) Kernel Programming?
(3) Slow transfer to NTFS drives, slow deletion.
Mobile Phones:
(1) Cyanogen Mod, Read Anindya chat Entries.
(2) Smart phone OS area, critical area for FOSS, the problem of the 80s have emerged, people can't understand the difference between hardware and software.
As of today thoughts have been creeping up, of not joining my company and pursuing the unknown (lol, since I can't fit into higher education and definitely not a job, where do I go?)
Now obviously most of this is krishnaraj inspired, because of the amount of possibilities and knowledge we have been exposed to, because of him.
Continuing the project philosophy, lets dump all the thoughts that have been coming up:
(1) Work as part of vrglinug and truly doing something, no classes no responsibilities!
(2) Join this 1 month old startup Eudora!
(3) Hard core programming! Enough of claiming to be a programmer, time to get dirty, even in FOSS!
Jquery >> Analysis of ONJ, WebServices (JSON REST and shit?)
Grep, Sed, Awk
STL
File handling!
Databases, Couchdb?
Python - You need this one!
Java baaaah. Strut that ass xD
Hack room in vrglinug:
(1) Teach programming
(2) Read Nicolo's book, Donald Knuth
[ Inspired from here : http://www.daniweb.com/software-development/computer-science/threads/41584]
(3) FOSS library, Read About hackers and FOSS yourself.
(4) Meet people, skillnet? Online collaboration models unexplored, Science of offline collaboration models in MSRIt.
Oh cmon, you didnt do shit if you didnt learn gdb!
http://sourceware.org/gdb/current/onlinedocs/gdb/

All those IIT hackfests? IIT hack simulations?
Abhigna's inspired hack fest.
hackthissite?
SIS web service? facebook app that compares attendance? Way2sms hack by Adarsh?
Investigate coding histories of Adarsh, Nicolo etc?
Google Search problems, can Rishabs app be a greasemonkey plugin?
Why cant there be plugin developers in India, in college?
Why cant this be a part of mukhti?
Google search problems, Bogus first results on popular topics like "pantyless yana" and "The mentalist season X episode Y megavideo" etc.!
Movies and Documentaries Project:
Dont you dare forget to take all that data from Saurov before he goes!
FOSS movies, screen them, what about a sharing model? like a place people bring in their stuff and share???
The Echo, identity - The actor with the amazing eyes thingy!
You were going to investigate how twitter came in to the world??
The Google Story, The Road Ahead? Mark Zuckerberg?
The Stories?
Exploit the twitter model? Hacks?
Explain what could be a feasible business model? Now thats learning?
A full time fascination education project?
Put up hackers history in IS and CS labs,
put up leaflets of the creators of gdb, g++ and all the other tools that people use in the labs, so they can appreciate stuff!
Design exercises so that students can learn through application, remember the krishnaraj dream? he introduced labs for every subject, the other teachers didn't know what to do in the labs! For god sake this should be a project in itself!
Or maybe a full fledged website, conduct tech quizzes subsequently.
Already prevalent outside, totally neglected here!
Auto syncing torrents?
The Idea of Indians being leechers?
Be part of the Vuze team??
If you're looking into hardcore programming, even that itself will take a lot!
GSoC?
Finally its time to get the mega memory research underway! and publish/write also.
The magician fascination, david blaine exposed blah blah, write up.
That reminds me, just like how your father said, why kill a talent that can be nurtured? what happens in acting? No questions asked if you're successful, or else... ya face it :D
Ofcourse Now you need to be solving problems everyday to become proficient,
and as far as algorithms is concerned... Diving into Donald Knuth simply sucks :S
MIT videos, introductory books, trace a fascinating journey.
Are Donald Knuth's book worth buying and alternatives.
Continuing the FOSS research could be fun!
Game Theory? Aww cmon dive in, time to explore and make mistakes, 365 days is a long time! Provided ofcourse you have atleast a minimal goal/plan achieved
Anda (Egg) wala business plan research!
Already a lot of ideas, now implementation is much easier said than done!
The WebGL Globe Project!
Collaboration models inside msrit? inside colleges?
Use facebook to assert identity?
Research on this area.
Code the B-tree, B+-tree, r-b tree in maps? Virtual B tree
Dragon Ball Z Marathon!
Focus on the social network research, it cant be that f*kin bad!
Idea: Just saw a T-mobile ad, had a girl with pretty shoes! Naturally I was attracted to this ad. But an important realization: when it comes to personalized ads, adding elements in the ad (whether or not related to the product, in this case pretty shoes, which I like) can influence the end-user, isn't it?
The ad can have elements that influence in the sub-conscious level, and I have a total theory about subconscious influence of society anyway!
Zuckerberg's so called social plugin: brilliant, identity of a person is asserted through facebook, that could make an amazing social collaboration model.
Death of Socrates, the "publicist" story in playboy and also krishnarajpm's article in his old blog. Also the original writings of Plato (which shocked pmk)
why internet as a medium for sharing movies and stuff?
So much offline content...
why not index it geographically?
like search for a movie, it will tell u the geographically closest guy that can give u that!
Requires collaboration and participation.
Question for krishnaraj: Now we all know he has quite the fancy for "engineering design", however he considers the 1980 NATO conference put a burden over all of us (the Software Engineering Community), by forcing the word "engineering" over software.
Elaborate!
